RESOLUTIONS OF THE BIG FLATS FIRE DISTRICT #1
Whereas, the Fire District has resolved to purchase a boat for the fire department;
Whereas, the commissioners of the fire district have determined that some of the cost of the purchase should be paid out of a capital reserve fund for such expenses;
Whereas, sufficient reserve funds have been saved for this purpose out of this general reserve fund;
Whereas, the expenditure of reserve fund monies requires that the resolution to be subject to permissive referendum;
Whereas, the fire district also desires to schedule a special meeting to review the bids received for this purchase;
NOW THEREFORE, upon motion made, seconded and discussion held, and subject to permissive referendum, the fire commissioners of the fire district RESOLVE as follows:
The district shall be permitted to utilize funds from its Capital Reserve fund to purchase a boat for the Fire Department’s rescue services;
Up to $156,000 may be withdrawn from the Capital Reserve fund to be applied towards the total cost of the purchase. The withdrawal may be taken in one or more amounts;
No funds may be withdrawn until the passage of thirty days from the date of publication of the abstract of this resolution;
The Secretary is hereby directed to place an abstract of the resolution upon the town’s sign board and the town’s and district’s website (if one exists) immediately, which must remain there for at least 15 days;
The Secretary is hereby directed to place an abstract of the resolution upon the fire district’s website immediately, which must remain there for at least 15 days;
The Secretary is hereby directed to place such abstract in the newspaper having general circulation in this district.
This resolution was approved by a majority of the Commissioners, on the 10 day of October, 2026.

ABSTRACT
By resolution dated the 10 of day of October, 2026, the Big Flats Fire District #1 has approved a resolution subject to permissive referendum to withdraw up to $156,000 from a Capital Reserve fund to be put towards the purchase of a rescue Boat for the Fire Department. Petitions opposing the sue of funds and requiring a referendum must be submitted to the secretary of the Big Flats Fire District #1 no later than thirty (30) days after the date of publication of this notice.
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Fire Commissioners
of the Big Flats Fire District will hold a Public Hearing on the
proposed increase to the Fire District's Statutory Spending
Limit pursuant to New York State law.
The Public Hearing will be held on July 28, 2026 at 6:00pm, at
the Big Flats Fire Station, 505 Maple Street, Big Flats, NY.
The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comment
regarding the proposed increase to the Fire District's Statutory
Spending Limit. All interested persons are invited to attend and
will be given an opportunity to ask questions, express concerns,
and provide comments before the proposed vote on August 4th
2026.

WHEREAS, on the 10th day of September, 2026, pursuant to Section 105 of the Town Law and Section 181 of the Town Law, the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Big Flats Fire District #1 confirmed that the Annual Fire District Budget hearing will be conducted with reference to the Annual Fire District Budget for the fiscal year 2027 on October 20, 2026 commencing at 7:00PM at the Big Flats Fire Company located at 505 Maple Street, Big Flats, New York and
WHEREAS, the Board of Fire Commissioners is required to adopt a proposed budget at least 21 days before October 20, 2026 so that it is available for public inspection prior to the budget hearing.
